5 Minute Networking takes “speed dating” approach to professional relationship building
The Business Voice
You’ve probably heard about “speed dating,” the latest trend in personal relationship development whereby participants have the opportunity to quickly connect with a number of potential suitors and see if there’s a good “match.”
Now, the Chamber is offering the exclusive opportunity to employ the same successful technique in the business networking arena: “5 Minute Networking.”
This innovative new strategy is being touted nationwide as one of the best relationship-building tools in the industry. The Chamber is providing a preview of this service exclusively to our upper-level members, the Board of Advisors and President’s Club, at a special March 23 event.
Through this exciting new process, members will be matched with those in industries they’d like to be involved with. A high-tech software program will route people through a carefully orchestrated agenda of “mini meetings” where professionals can meet briefly and spend one-on-one time discussing what their companies do and what their professional needs are. The proprietary software program keeps track of who meets who and provides detailed analysis and contact information after the event. Just as in “speed dating,” participants who find one another to be a good professional match will be paired up for extended networking as part of the overall event.
“We’re incredibly excited to debut this new service to our upper level members,” says LVCC Events Director Robert Heidt. “Time is a precious commodity, so we’ve found a way for members to maximize their relationship building opportunities in a fast-paced format.”
While this first 5 Minute Networking event is open exclusively to Board of Advisors and President’s Club members, the system will soon be incorporated into other Chamber events open to the full membership.
“Once we’ve got the program successfully up and running, members who want to participate will be able to register for an event and then log onto our website and designate what kinds of industries they want to be ‘matched’ with,” says Heidt. “We’ll essentially be creating custom networking opportunities for each individual member.”
Sonia English, CEO and co-founder of 5 Minute Networking notes, “5 Minute Networking events were created with the networker in mind. Compared to traditional networking events where participants may only meet two or three individuals, participants of 5 Minute Networking events walk away with as many as 20 new contacts.” Adds English, “Not only is the 5 Minute Networking event format fast, fun and efficient, our patent-pending software maximizes results for the event participant.”
The software keeps track of who has met whom, ensuring that participants meet new people at every event. Afterward, participants can log on to the 5 Minute Networking website and view the contact details and business description of every person they met at the event. This personalized database of contacts will grow with each event the participant attends.
If you’re a member of the Chamber’s Board of Advisors or President’s Club, you can register for the March 23 event by calling (702) 641-LVCC (5822), option 2, or by logging on to www.lvchamber.com.
