Speed networking works: Chamber sees success in new program
NEWS RELEASE: Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce
Chamber partners who attend 5 Minute Networking® events have the opportunity to engage with others, one-on-one, in five-minute increments. They exchange business cards, share their stories and gather referrals that can lead to positive relationships with members of the community. The Chamber enhances the networking experience with on-line follow-up tools so that participants can continue to forge these relationships. Outback Steakhouse® is the exclusive sponsor of the events, providing lunch to all participants.
“It’s a quick, easy way to get your name out there,” says Mary Cohron, chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. “5 Minute Networking® brings people together in a professional, but casual, fashion that gives everyone a chance to get to know career-oriented people and establish relationships.”
According to Vice President of Chamber Operations Tonya Matthews, the Chamber brought 5 Minute Networking® to the Bowling Green area to encourage business owners and executives to develop partnerships. “Cities much larger than Bowling Green have reported that speed networking works. We want our business partners to meet each other, talk about their businesses and expand their professional networks.”
Partnership Development Director Dana Matukas reports that the Feb. 27 event was a major success. “This first event was sold out, and people are already registering for the June 7 meeting. The overall response has been that 5 Minute Networking® is a great opportunity to get to know Chamber partners and ultimately establish strong business relationships.”
The next Five Minute Networking® event will be held on June 7 at 710 College Street in the Chamber’s Community Room. Registration is open to Chamber partners only. Participants receive lunch, along with 15 new contacts, for $25. Online registration is required. Those interested can visit the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce’s Web site, www.bgchamber.com.
