Unique 5 Minute Networking Program Offers New Approach to Connecting
Oceanside Business Journal
The Chamber recently signed a licensing agreement that will allow it to offer 5 Minute Networking™ to its members next year.
At 5 Minute Networking™ events you meet up to 20 other individuals, one-on-one, in 5 minute increments. Results are maximized by the Event Facilitation Software which seats participants in the optimal position. In a 5 minute meeting with another individual, you can describe your respective businesses, exchange business cards and pass on referrals. When you hear the bell, it’s time to move to another table and meet someone new.
Some of the highlights of this program include: • Meet new people at every event • Choose the industries you would prefer to meet • View the contact information online of people you meet at events • Gain referrals for your business or organization • Improve your networking and communication skills
Founded by sister-duo Sonia and Melissa English in 2004, 5 Minute Networking™ has a unique history. While one sister kept coming away from “speed dating” events with more contacts for the sisters’ Web design business than dates, the other was leaving conventional networking events feeling that something was missing. Putting their heads together, they came up with 5 Minute Networking™ and have been blazing the rapid networking trail ever since.
The novelty and excitement generated by 5 Minute Networking™ has led to wide press coverage, including a feature piece in the “Smart Ideas” section of Entrepreneur magazine in August 2005 and an upcoming article in Millionaire Blueprints magazine, distributed by Time Warner.
Earlier this year, both sisters were nominated for 2005 Business Woman of the Year, an award presented by the Orange County Business Journal.
